MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES
They belong to a group of intructional perspectives that focus on differences between learners and the need to recognize learner differences in teaching. Individual learning styles, preferences or intelligences, by Howard Gardner posits eight native "Intelligences", which are describe as follow:
THE SILENT WAY
It is based on the premise that the teacher should be silent as much as possible in the classroom but learner should be encourage to produce as much language as possible. Elements of the Silent Way, particularly the use of color Charts. develop by Gattegno.
Teaching vocabulary |
The general objective of this is to give beginning-level students oral and aural facility in basic elements of the target languge. The principal goal set for language learning is near-native fluency in the target language, and correct pronunciation.
Storytelling |
Learning tasks and activities in the Silent Way have the function of encouranging and shaping student oral reponse without direct oral instruction. Responses to commands, questions, and visual cues thus constitute the basis for classroom activities.
TOTAL PHYSICAL RESPONSE
Simon Says |
Is a language teaching method built around the coordination of speech and action; it attempts to teach language through physical (motor) activity. Developed by James Asher. The speech directed to young children cosists primarily of commands, which children respond to physically before they begin to produce verbal responses.
Role Play activity |
it reflects a grammar-based view of language . Most of the grammatical structure of the target language and hundreds of vocabuary items can be learned from the skillful use of the imperative by the instructor. Particular verb, and paritualrly the verb in the imperative, as the central linguistic motif around which language use and learning are organized.
Imperative drills are the major classroom activity in TPR used to elicit physical action and activity on the part of the learners.
